The book was fantastic! I live in South Africa – 3rd generation. My mother lives in another city and this book made me think of her so much. I have been really missing her. Thank you for writing such a beautiful book. I loved the flow, history, hunour, recipes.
Hi Monica,
I loved your book! I’ve had a mystery plaguing me all my life–I have never known my biological father who I have recently (thanks to the internet)come to the conclusion that he is from India originally & living in Hong Kong. My mother wasn’t sure of his ethnicity, but I always thought I was half Indian because of the way I look, and after putting some clues from my mother together & doing a little research I’m sure that I am 1/2 Indian. So, not knowing anything about Indian culture, I have been reading lots about it & your book was great! I enjoyed all the cultural information you included! Although I am not for sure the person I have found is my real father, I really am sure now that my heritage is Indian. Wish me luck in my search for him. Thank you!
Just finished reading ‘The Hindi-Bindi Club’. It was a great read! I am a first generation maharashtrian immigrant just like Meenal. After reading this book I have more empathy for my daughter for she has to endure a traditional Indian mother and live in a western society.
The only thing I did not like is the book cover. It was unnecessarily crude.

Hi, I’ve just finished your book and I’ve loved it very much…I’ld like to cook some recipes but I live in Italy and I don’t know how I could find some foods…when I could read a new book by you?
Dear Monica,
I just read your book in two days; can you tell I really enjoyed it?! Although I’m not Indian, I was able to relate to Kiran and Rani. I am multi-racial and I am asked the question, “where are you from?”. When I was younger, I wasn’t sure how to answer that question, but as I got older it became very simple. I like Kiran, would give the full run down of my culture, nationality, and where I spent most of my life. (I’m always mistaken to be Indian…which is quite flattering. I’ve always admired the various Indian cultures my friends come from.
It was GREAT that you included recipes in the book. I can’t wait to get home to begin cooking.
I found this amazing book by chance at the local library and can’t keep it down. I immigrated to Canada around 2 years back and I know I’m missing home because now I just can’t seem to get enough of India. I love your idea of incorporating the recipes in the book and surely will be trying them out. Thank you for the lovely stories, I can so easily connect to them.
Thank you once again,
Jiji Abey
Hi Monica,
Firstly, love your name, my daughter was supposed to be named Monica but alas she was born on a Sunday so she is a Sonia – mind you she is Kiran’s alter-ego, shes only 22 so we hope she ends up just like Kiran – happy. I have been married for 31 years and have always wanted to tell my story of being brought up in the USA and getting married the old-fashioned way – thank you for doing the next best thing!!!!
The Hindi Bindi Club reminds me of the Joy Luck Club which I loved but love your book just abit more as I can relate to it. Can’t wait for your next novel. Like Christi’s comments above, wished it was longer, maybe a sequel????
Hi
I just made homemade cheese after reading your book here in Norway. π
are you done with the sequel?

Hi Monica, I just read your book and I miss home…I moved to Australia for love and could not get a better hubby! But reading your book makes me yearn for Mumbai street food. I hope my daughter will appreciate her heritage!
